Final Project

Your goal for the remainder of the semester will be to create a photographic series.

You’re free to work with any styles or approaches that you like (i.e. portraiture, documentary, still life, etc.) provided that your work can be read as a coherent set of images. And provided that your series meet the following criteria:

1. You must submit 6-10 printed photographs.

2.  You must upload the final, color-corrected files for these photographs to our class Flickr group.

3. Your photographs must demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental principals discussed in class: i.e. light & shadow, composition, depth of field, etc.

4. Your images must be conventional “straight” photographs – you cannot use extreme filters, photoshop effects or digital photo-montage techniques. (You’re free to do whatever you want – as long as it happens in front of the camera.)

5. Your photographs must express your own thought, idea, opinion, concept or viewpoint in some way, shape or form.

6.  You must submit a 3-4 paragraph statement outlining your concept, your aesthetic approach, your shooting techniques, and your inspiration for the project.

7. You must continue to upload at least 4 images-in-progress to our Flickr group every week.

A preliminary draft of your statement will be due on May 4/5. Your prints, final statement, and final digital files will be due at the start of class on May 18/19.
